Wanted: Civil Engineers to help build Yorkshire’s railways

Civil Engineers across Yorkshire are being called upon to help Story Contracting deliver CP6 Network Rail frameworks across the Eastern region.

After a very successful 12 months and a host of new business wins, award-winning infrastructure company Story Contracting is looking to recruit a Project Agent to join its Yorkshire team.

Working within the company’s Rail division, which has offices in York and Normanton, the individual will be engaged in the planning and engineering functions of large framework projects.

The role with Story offers the opportunity to work on varied structures, property and earthworks projects, and career progression in project management.

Several the Yorkshire team members have recently taken the next step in their career with the support of the business.

Dan Jones – Contracts Manager

Having joined the company in 2014 from BAM Nuttall Ltd as a Project Agent, Dan has progressed to become Contracts Manager for the Eastern region.

Dan heads up the delivery of the CP6 frameworks and continues to grow both the team and the work bank in the region.

“I’m lucky to work for a company that recognises and rewards hard work and invests generously in its people.  Maximising everyone’s potential as we continue to grow is a key ethos of the business.

“Being a Project Agent at Story offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your engineering and project management skills at the same time.”

Tom Brown – Scheme Project Manager

Tom, began his career with Story Contracting in September 2014 as a Trainee Project Agent. In the five years since then, Tom has progressed to Scheme Project Manager.

In his current role, Tom plans and manages various projects, from platforms extensions to bridge reconstructions.

“I chose to progress my career in project management with Story because of the variation in projects, the clear progression path presented and the opportunity to join a family-run, growing business.

“I would like to progress towards becoming a Project Manager working on large multi-discipline projects. I think this is more than achievable with the training, support and time Story are willing to put in to help people achieve personal goals.”

Kimberley Middleton – Project Agent

Kimberley, is the first graduate to complete the company’s graduate scheme to become a Project Agent.

In her role she manages project planning for the geotechnical framework and other major projects.

“I enjoy how dynamic being an engineer in the rail sector is, and I’ve found that no two days are the same. I take great satisfaction in seeing a project progress from infancy through to completion.”
