We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and experienced Project Manager (CRE-C) to join our North West division. We are looking for an individual to support the delivery of our multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects initially working at Crewe station on a canopy replacement project.

The Role:

As a Project Manager at Story Contracting you will lead and oversee the planning, coordination and execution of the construction stage of civil engineering, buildings and railway systems projects ensuring all works meet safety, quality and programme expectations. Act as Construction CRE playing a central part in driving construction solutions and overseeing construction activities through efficient and effective coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project delivery driving safety, schedule and quality throughout the construction phase
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers and wider stakeholders to deliver value driven outcomes
  • Identify and proactively manage project risks and opportunities
  • Be accountable for commercial performance, cost control and change management
  • Manage project reporting, both internally and externally in line with business process and contractual requirements
  • Carry out CRE construction duties, ensuring full compliance with assurance and governance processes

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in project management within the rail or infrastructure sector
  • Excellent leadership skills, fostering a collaborative approach, with the ability to influence positive outcomes
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and multi-disciplinary project development
  • Extensive experience as a Construction CRE within the rail sector
  • Strong understanding of civil and rail engineering principles, construction methods and safety requirements
  • A related degree, diploma, or vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in Construction or Civil Engineering
  • Site Managers Safety Training Scheme, or equivalent CDM 2015 training
  • Chartered membership with a relevant industry body (e.g., APM or ICE) (desirable)
  • Temporary Works Coordination (desirable)
