Story Contracting host their first ever Supply Chain Partner Event

Story Contracting held an event on the 16th June at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester as an opportunity to meet in-person with their supply chain partners that they have been collaborating with over the past 2 years.

The suppliers have been part of an industry health, safety and sustainability forum, and this day was an opportunity to celebrate the successes they have achieved together.

Paul Turner, Senior HSQE Manager said, “The day was a huge success, and it was great to see all our partners and be able to celebrate our successes together. But also, to look ahead and plan how we can all improve our HSQE performances in the future.”

The day included an overview of Story business units and workshops where commitments to improve health, safety and sustainability performance were made.

There were also many opportunities for the supply chains to network amongst themselves throughout the day.

Stuart Hughes, Network Rail said: “The event was very informative and good to meet some of the suppliers directly. It was also good to understand what else Story do.”

“As well as a chance to catch up with people that have been involved with the company for a few years, it was also a chance to meet new faces. Jane Vickers from AECOM explained, “As someone new to working alongside Story, the session was a fantastic oversight of the company.”

For the first time, Story also presented awards to recognise supply chain partners who have raised the bar within the categories of Innovation, Health & Safety, Social Value, Sustainability and Engaging with Plan Safe. The awards praised the hard work and efforts of the partners whilst they have been working collaboratively with Story.

Andy Joy, Managing Director of Story England explained, “It is important for us as a company to be engaged with our supply chain partners, and this event was the perfect way to network, but also to discuss how we can work together to improve performance and safety, bring these together in a form of commitments we can jointly drive in to make a difference , by working together closely their commitments that they have made to the company for the future.”

Story’s Supply Chain Partner Event comes at an exciting time for the company with brand new offices in Normanton and Chorley, and also a new depot opening in Birmingham at the end of the month. The company currently has 41 live vacancies within Story England, expanding their footprint further across the UK.
