Story Contracting has entered a strategic partnership with UB Infrastructure Ltd (UBI) to deliver innovative, sustainable infrastructure solutions for clients across the rail and construction sectors.
The new partnership brings together Story Contracting’s extensive experience in civil engineering and infrastructure delivery with UBI’s cutting-edge manufacturing and modular design expertise. Together, the two organisations are focused on eliminating waste, maximising efficiency, and delivering value for money to clients in the rail and wider infrastructure sectors. UBI is revolutionising the industry with its award-winning, rapidly deployable low-carbon modular structures. Using a componentised manufacturing approach, UBI’s systems deliver significant savings in time, cost, energy consumption, and whole life carbon. With a 75+ year design life, these structures are commonly used to house mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment, HV switchgear, utilities, and workshops, or to extend the lifespan of existing infrastructure.

The collaboration has already delivered success in protecting lineside railway assets, achieving major savings, and reducing programme times with various schemes lined up throughout the control period. Additionally, design work is underway on further structures identified by Network Rail as priority assets where UBI’s solution could extend the infrastructure’s service life.
