Over the past few weeks, Story Contracting has been proud to host our Summer School work experience across England and Scotland, where we hosted 60 enthusiastic students for a hands-on introduction to the world of construction and civil engineering.
From site visits, station design projects and bridge-building challenges, to career development sessions, the programme included over 35 activities across each location, designed to spark curiosity and build real-world skills.
Students had the opportunity to learn directly from our knowledgeable colleagues, gaining insights into the industry and exploring potential career paths. The feedback has been very positive, with many participants praising the engaging sessions and supportive environment.
One student reflected on their experience saying, “The activities encouraged us to think outside the box and were challenging yet also enticing. It was highly enjoyable, and promoted teamwork whilst motivating me to pursue a career in engineering.”
Another student commented “I found this week very exciting, it has opened my eyes to careers I wouldn’t have thought of.”
Story is thrilled with the success of this year’s Summer Schools and look forward to building on this momentum with next year’s programme.
