Are you a detail-driven planner with a passion for safety and operational excellence? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and precision are key?

We’re looking for a Senior Access Planner to join our South & Central team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling the safe and efficient delivery of rail infrastructure projects. With the opportunity to grow and transfer skills into other disciplines through our diversification strategy.

About the Role

As a Senior Access Planner, you’ll be responsible for securing and coordinating track access across multiple routes, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards. You’ll manage complex possession planning, liaise with stakeholders, and contribute to strategic access solutions that minimise disruption and maximise delivery potential.

This role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience across operational planning and interface with Transport for London infrastructure, with scope to grow into wider sectors within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and coordination of track access requirements across the full project lifecycle.
  • Manage Engineering Haulage and On-Track Machines (OTMs) via NROL.
  • Plan AC and DC isolations in accordance with route-specific standards, including SAI25.
  • Produce high-quality documentation including SSOWPs using On Trac, and maintain accurate records and systems in line with NR/L2/OHS/019.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
  • Contribute to access strategies during tender development.
  • Deliver a portfolio of work across multiple Network Rail routes and TfL infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to align access, documentation, PC arrangements, and resources.
  • Attend and contribute to Access and Integration meetings.

Benefits

At Story Contracting, we invest in our people. You’ll benefit from:

  • A competitive salary, company car/allowance, and pension scheme.
  • Award-winning training and development opportunities.
  • Health cash plan and wellbeing support.
  • Hybrid working policy with flexible arrangements.
  • Two paid volunteering days annually to support causes that matter to you.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • SSOWP qualification and experience using RailHub and PPS.
  • Proven experience planning Engineering Trains and OTMs via NROL.
  • PTS certification and strong operational knowledge of railway systems.
  • In-depth understanding of NR/L2/OHS/019, DWWP processes, and relevant Network Rail standards.
  • Expertise in AC/DC isolations and route-specific isolation standards.
  • Familiarity with planning within TfL infrastructure.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to safety excellence.
