Head of Business Development
Alan joined Story Contracting in 2015 having held several senior positions in some of the UK’s largest rental companies and a period working as a rental consultant. His role is to lead the commercial activities of the business and to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with new and existing clients. This is done by providing innovative commercial and practical solutions for clients which harness the vast array of experience within the Plant team.
Construction Director
Alistair was appointed Director of Construction in October 2013 having worked for Story since 1991. With overall responsibility for the successful running of the Construction division, Alistair’s role is to ensure that the Construction business remains successful and that it’s hard earned reputation for safety, quality and the highest delivery standards are consistently maintained in line with the overall Contracting Strategy. An essential part of Alistair’s role is to ensure clients requirements are understood and delivered to the standard expected of Story. Working collaboratively with our clients and our supply chain to provide successful relationships and infrastructure wherever possible is a critical Construction division objective and aim. Alistair started his construction career with Sir Robert McApine’s at Torness Nuclear Power Station as a student engineer. Thereafter Balfour Beatty in Scotland and Sellafield followed. Thomas Armstrong Limited gave him the opportunity to work as a Site Manager within their Civil Engineering division before he moved to Story Construction.
Head of Operations
Andy joined the company as Site Manager in January 2014, rising through the ranks to his appointment as Head of Operations in 2022. Andy is responsible for the quality assurance regarding day to day construction activities whilst ensuring health and safety standards are met. Andy is responsible for producing and achieving programmes as well as approving and ensuring the scheduling and provision of materials, labour, sub-contractor labour and plant as required. Prior to joining Story Contracting Andy ran his own construction company for 15 years, starting with 3 employees Andy carried out small private construction work and over the years his workforce increased up to 30 employees carrying out a range of projects for the private, public and industrial sectors, this ranged from speculative housing developments to civil engineering contracts.
