Story Contracting is a business that’s going places… it’s a great time to join #TeamStory

Our people are our most important asset, as they deliver the high level of service and quality we provide to our growing customer base. We are always looking for forward-thinking professionals, ambitious graduates and enthusiastic apprentices who are seeking new challenges and career progression to join #TeamStory.

A Story person has a strong work ethic, is proud of our brand and enjoys working for a business that values its people and rewards and expects success.

Whether working on-site or in our offices, Story Contracting truly is a great place to work. With our ambitious plans for the future, there has never been a better time to join the Story family.

Developing our people

We recognise that we are successful because of the skills and dedication of our people. We are committed to investing in the development of their knowledge and expertise, helping them to reach their full potential.

We have state-of-the-art, purpose-built training facilities and in-house training provision, allowing us to provide extensive training and development opportunities to every member of #TeamStory. Story colleagues receive an average of 8.7 days of training each year, which is more than double the national industry average.

Our commitment to developing our people was recognised at the 2019 Rail Partnership Awards where we were named the best Investors in People.

Supporting our communities

Since Founder and Chairman, Fred Story started the business in 1987, being a good neighbour and doing it right by the community, has been a guiding motto for Story Contracting. We recognise the responsibility we have to give back to the communities across the United Kingdom in which we are integrated. It is not an add on to what we do, it’s an expectation.

We are a trusted community partner and have a track record of investing in our communities through training and development, apprenticeship schemes, health and wellbeing support, STEM ambassadors and organising and supporting community events.

In 2019, we won the Community Engagement Award at the Rail Partnership Awards, and as part of our commitment to supporting communities across the country, we offer two days’ paid leave annually for every employee to support community and voluntary projects of their choice. My favourite thing about my role is working with my colleagues - they are all amazing at their jobs and very focused and hard-working. I genuinely don’t ever have a day when I don’t look forward to coming to work.
