We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our Rail Division, based from our Normanton Depot- and there has never been a better time to join!

The Role

As a Site Engineer at Story Contracting you will support the delivery of our expanding workbank including structures, earthworks, track, station enhancements and property projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join our award-winning company with secured Network Rail CP6 Frameworks in our Eastern region.

 

As a Site Engineer you will work alongside the project teams to deliver several rail-based projects in our Eastern region, from site locations and within our regional offices in Normanton, Middlesbrough, and York. On site, you will be carrying out site control and setting out along with quality management of the construction phase of the works. You will be responsible for assurance and quality control on site, reporting technical performance, undertaking site-based engineering audits, and providing feedback to the Engineering Manager. You will produce technical queries where required, record quality progress and assurance within ITPs supported by control checks, managing any required hold-points or witness tests. You will identify non-conformances and offer recommendations to rectify.

 

You will have responsibilities during the design and development stage of the project, working with the CEM and CRE’s, offering innovation, challenge, and ideas to construction methodologies during design reviews, highlighting potential constructability issues and improvements for the delivery phase.

 

As a Site Engineer, we will develop your skills and support you, to provide project engineering support by carrying out the role of Construction CRE in accordance with NR/L2/RSE/02009 and/or the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) role.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified or working towards degree level, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering
  • Understanding of site working environments and protocols
  • Construction / Rail Engineering experience
  • PTS certified
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
  • Experience of current setting out procedures and equipment (Leica Total station / Dual Grade lasers)
  • Experience of working with and driving a high level of engineering principles
  • Knowledge of Network Rail Standards and Governance
  • Good working knowledge of H&S regulations and legislation
  • Experience of working within highly regulatory environments
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work on your own but thrives within the team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Willingness to undergo further training to advance knowledge
  •  Flexible, versatile and motivated
  • Excellent communication skills
