Regional Lead Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Lead Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Manager to join our team, based from our Normanton office - and there has never been a better time to join!

The Role

  • To drive safety performance and add social value to the regional works portfolio through the implement and maintain compliance with the Story Contracting Limited integrated HSQE CORE Management System across the Region, to maintain Story Contracting Limited Principal Contractor Licence, RISQS and Achilles Certifications and ISO 9001/14001/45001/44001 Certifications.
  • Operational lead for HSQE within Region and representing HSQE at a regional Senior Management Team level. 
  • Professional support and guidance to the businesses to enable the effective management of health & safety in accordance with, and by contributing towards HSQE Policies, Standards, Procedures and Operation licenses.

Key accountabilities will include; 

Responsible for managing the development of a positive health & safety and sustainability culture focused upon accident prevention and improving the health & safety of all personnel on-site and adding social value to the project offerings.

  1. Leadership of Operational HSQE Team
  2. Provisions of advice and support
  3. Designing and implementing 1st line assurance and governance
  4. Event Investigations and Emerging Risk Reviews
  5. Reporting and trend analysis
  6. Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree level or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety (preferred)
  • Degree level or equivalent in Environment/Ecology (optional)
  • Recognised quality / auditing qualification
  • Chartered/Full Member of IOSH/IEMA - desired.
  • PTS / CSCS Card holder with good working knowledge of Rail Industry Standards
  • >5 years’ experience of managing HSQE within Construction and Rail engineering environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Experience managing a team
