Due to the growth of our Story Scotland division, based from our office in Blantyre, we now have an opportunity for Lead Operatives to join the team.
Reporting to a Site Manager, you will work in a team to supervise and motivate site workers and undertake delegated site management duties when required, to ensure the safe delivery of works to the agreed quality and programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Effectively organising resource, plant and materials to deliver the agreed works
- Effectively and safely manage site operations
- Ensure accurate recording and management of site information
- Develop and manage the performance of site colleagues effectively and safely
Using your management/supervisory skills and being an effective team player, you will require minimal supervision and will build working relationships and gain the respect of our delivery teams quickly.
You must have excellent Civil Engineering skills and experience in earthworks, drainage, structures and concreting with a sound understanding of safety expectations.
Experience of working in a Rail environment and holding a current PTS certificate is essential for this role. Additional skills and competence such as COSS, SSSTS / SMSTS and First Aid would be highly desirable, as would a proven track record in developing skills in others as we firmly believe in personal development and career progression.
Due to the nature of the work, the position will include working unsocial hours including nights and weekends, and travelling and working away from home for periods of time.
